Czechoslovak Chamber Duo Concert for the 100th Anniversary of Czechoslovakia
On Tuesday, April 24, the Czechoslovak Chamber Duo concert took place in a small organ hall of the Jāzeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music.
The concert was officially opened by HE Miroslav Kosek, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Latvia, and HE Peter Hatiar, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Latvia. The violinist Pavel Burdych (CZ) and pianist Zuzana Berešová (SK) presented ten compositions by Slovak and Czech authors. The concert was organized especially for the members of the diplomatic corps and for the other invited guests, including Slovak and Czech compatriots, representatives of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and members of the Latvian-Czech society. The audience of the concert enjoyed the compositions of Bedřich Smetana "From the Homeland", Ilja Zeljenka "Musica Slovaca", Josef Suk "Fairy tale, op. 16 ", etc. "The memory of Bardejov, op. 31 " by Béla Kéler and the final "Souvenir " by Ladislav Kupkovič earned the great applause. The concert was attended by the representatives of embassies accredited in Riga, mostly at ambassadorial level. The guests' response to the concert was exceptionally positive, indicating a high artistic level of performers and a selective repertoire.
The commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the common Czech-Slovak state was finalized by the meeting of artists and guests with a glass of wine.
